Questions About Trash Pickup Near Ephesus

Is a county trash permit sold in Ephesus itself?

Yes. The county's permit page names Ephesus City Hall as one of its three counters, so you do not need a trip to the county seat.

What if my address is across the line in Alabama?

Alabama addresses are outside our service area, and Ephesus is only about 2 miles from the line. Give us the street address and we will tell you whether it is covered.

Is Ephesus its own city?

Yes, Ephesus is an incorporated city in the northwest corner of Heard County, and it has its own City Hall. Mail there usually carries a Roopville or Bowdon address, so the postal address and the city name may not match.

Heard County Permits and Large Items

Heard County says a valid trash permit is needed to use its convenience centers. Northwest Highway 100, one of the six, opens Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Weekday doors close at 8 p.m. on the daylight-saving schedule and 7 p.m. in winter, and Saturday closes at 6 p.m. The permit is $75 on the county's permit page. Besides the Ephesus City Hall counter, the county takes permit requests by mail with proof of Heard County residency, such as a copy of a driver's license or a utility bill with a street address, plus a filled-out application.

Residents 65 and older pay $25 with proof of age. The county's Building and Zoning office, in the Administration Building in Franklin, answers permit questions at 706-675-3700.

For the other five sites, see the Heard County dump hours guide.
