Heard County Dump Hours and Convenience Centers

Heard County has six convenience centers, and most are open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Hours shift between a daylight-saving schedule and a winter schedule, and you need a county trash permit to get in. The permit is $75, or $25 for ages 65 and older.

Everything below comes from the county's own pages, with the links. We are a private curbside company and do not run any of these sites.

How Do I Get a Heard County Trash Permit?

The county says you will need a valid trash permit to use any of the centers. It costs $75, or $25 if you are 65 or older, and a replacement permit is $75. Building & Zoning also takes cards, though the county notes a fee applies.

Three counters sell them: the Building & Zoning Office in the Administration Building at 201 Park Avenue in Franklin, Centralhatchee City Hall and Ephesus City Hall. If a trip to town is a hassle, you can order by mail. Send a $75 check or money order made out to Heard County, your phone number, a self-addressed stamped envelope, proof of Heard County residency (a copy of your driver's license or a utility bill with a street address) and the filled-out application to Heard County Commissioner, C/O Garbage Permit, P.O. Box 40, Franklin, GA 30217. Seniors send proof of their birth date for the $25 rate. Questions go to 706-675-3700.

What About Large Items?

Under the Old Field Road listing, the county adds that it will accept large items, at $50 per ton with a $5 minimum. The page does not say whether that applies at the other five sites, so call the county first if you are hauling a couch or a load of lumber.
