Pool Season Prep in West Georgia: Managing Summer Trash the Smart Way

Pool Season is Here in West Georgia

The weather’s heating up across Carroll, Haralson, and Heard Counties, and that means one thing — pool season is officially here! Whether you’re firing up the backyard pool in Carrollton, heading to John Tanner State Park’s massive sand beach in Mount Zion, or planning pool parties all summer long, Bowdon Disposal is here to make sure your summer fun doesn’t turn into a trash nightmare.

As West Georgia’s favorite trash service (voted Best Sanitation Service every year we’ve been in business), we’ve seen it all when it comes to summer entertaining. Here’s your guide to managing pool season trash like a pro.

Pool Party Cleanup Made Easy

Nothing says summer in West Georgia like a backyard pool party. But between the food containers, paper plates, empty drink bottles, and general party debris, your regular trash routine might need some adjustments.

What Goes in Your Red Cart

  • Food containers and packaging from your pool party spread
  • Paper plates, cups, and napkins (even if they’re wet)
  • Empty snack bags and chip containers
  • Disposable utensils and serving items
  • General party cleanup debris

Just make sure everything fits with the lid closed completely. Nothing hanging out means safer pickup for our Red Angels crew.

Consider a Second Cart for Big Gatherings

Planning a big Memorial Day bash or graduation pool party? Your regular 95-gallon red cart might not cut it. The good news? You can easily add a second (or even third) cart to your service. No contracts, no hassle — just more capacity when you need it.

Head over to bowdondisposal.com/customize to build the perfect plan for your summer entertaining needs. Neck Tattoo (that’s Nectarine, our beloved crew member) will walk you through all the options.

Pool Chemical Disposal: What NOT to Put in Your Cart

Here’s something crucial for pool owners across Villa Rica, Bremen, and beyond — pool chemicals NEVER go in your trash cart. This includes:

  • Liquid chlorine or shock treatments
  • Algaecides and clarifiers
  • pH adjusters (liquid form)
  • Any pressurized containers

Why? These chemicals can be dangerous to our Red Angels crew and can cause serious reactions when mixed with other trash. Plus, liquid chemicals can leak and damage the truck.

Safe Pool Chemical Disposal

For safe disposal of pool chemicals in Carroll, Haralson, or Heard County, contact your local waste authority. Many areas have special collection days for household hazardous waste. When in doubt, call us at (470) 943-3355 — we’re happy to point you in the right direction.

Empty, dry chemical containers (like chlorine buckets that have been rinsed and dried) are typically fine for your cart, but give us a call to confirm.

Summer Entertaining Tips from Your Neighbors

Bowdon Disposal founders Brant Ledbetter and Lanny Smith have been West Georgia neighbors for over 40 years, and they know summer entertaining. Here are their top tips:

Plan Ahead for Big Events

  • Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day — these are the big ones. Consider upgrading your service temporarily or scheduling an extra pickup
  • Graduation parties are huge in May and June. Don’t get caught with overflowing trash
  • Weekend pool parties can generate more trash than you think

Make Cleanup Easier

  • Set up clearly marked trash stations around your pool area
  • Use trash bags to contain wet or messy items before they go in the cart
  • Trash Butler customers — you’re all set! The Red Angels will handle everything from pickup to return

Beat the Heat with Trash Butler

Speaking of Trash Butler — summer in West Georgia gets hot. Highs in the mid-80s, humidity that’ll make you sweat just thinking about it, and frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Do you really want to drag that cart to the curb and back every week?

Trash Butler means you never touch the cart. Our Red Angels walk it from your house to the truck, empty it, and bring it back. Perfect for:

  • Seniors who shouldn’t be out in the heat
  • Busy families juggling summer activities
  • Anyone with a long driveway (no more hiking that cart in 90-degree weather)
  • Pool hosts who have better things to do than worry about trash day

Summer Schedule Reminders

A few important notes as we head into summer:

  • Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day are observed holidays. If your regular pickup day falls on a holiday, service moves to the next day
  • Severe weather (thunderstorms, tornado warnings) may cause delays. We’ll keep you updated via social media and your customer portal
  • Summer storms can be intense in West Georgia. Secure your cart lid and avoid placing it under trees that might drop branches

Ready for Your Best Summer Yet?

Pool season in West Georgia should be about fun, family, and friends — not worrying about trash overflow. Whether you need a bigger cart, want to add Trash Butler service, or just need a reliable company that shows up every week (rain or shine), Bowdon Disposal has you covered.

No contracts. No hassles. Just your neighbors taking care of your trash service.
