Today marks a special day in West Georgia — April 1, 2026 — and Bowdon Disposal is officially three years old! Yes, we launched on April Fools’ Day back in 2023, but there’s nothing foolish about what childhood friends Brant Ledbetter and Lanny Smith have built together.

What started as two Bowdon boys with a big idea has become the Times-Georgian’s Best Trash Service in West Georgia — an award we’ve won every single year we’ve been in business. That’s three straight years of community recognition, and it means everything to us.

From Friendship to Fleet

Brant and Lanny grew up together in Bowdon over 40 years ago. Their friendship became the foundation for something special — a trash service that operates like neighbors helping neighbors, not a faceless corporation. When they decided to start Bowdon Disposal, they knew they wanted to do things differently.

The signature 95-gallon red carts aren’t just functional — they’re a tribute to the Bowdon Red Devils, the high school that shaped both founders. Every red cart rolling through Carroll, Haralson, and Heard counties carries a piece of that hometown pride.
